Catholic Daughters has Christmas event

Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court St. John 1214 of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Plaquemine held a Christmas banquet on Dec. 3 at The Island Country Club.

Guests included Deacon Alfred Ricard and his wife, Ruth; Selectman Mickey Rivet and Sister Cecile Potrais. The speaker was the Rev. Cleo Milano, the court’s chaplain.

On Dec. 10, members brought handmade rosaries and Christmas cards, and sang Christmas carols to Plaquemine Nursing Home residents. Several members donated gifts for the Giving Tree at Plaquemine Manor.

Family Road names new board members

Family Road of Greater Baton Rouge announced the appointment of four new board members on Jan. 3 to govern the local organization that provides support resources to area families.

Melissa Lewis Anderson is director of community relations and business development for Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital. Shaun Kemmerly is a pediatrician for Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital and is the medical director of the Baton Rouge Children’s Health Project. Karen Profita is the principal of KJP Impressions, and is the former executive director of United Way of Baton Rouge. Scarlett Osborn Roemer is a pediatric nurse for Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital.

Genevieve Silverman will continue to serve as chairwoman of the board. Silverman is director of finance with Louisiana Technology Park.

Other board members are Karron Alford, destination content manager at Visit Baton Rouge; Joe Alton, vice president of commercial banking at Capital One; David Beach, regional trust manager with Whitney Bank; Donna Bodin, vice president of employee services with Woman’s Hospital; Mark Broussard, operations controller at Albemarle; Dawn Cantrell, vice president with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana; Judge Bob Downing; Jennifer Treadway Morris, attorney and managing member with Treadway Morris Lawyers; Wendy Overton, director with LSU Continuing Education; Samuel Sanders, executive director with Mid City Redevelopment; Ralph Serpas, director of nursing at Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital; Manuel Valencia, vice president of strategy with Excelerant; and Anne Marie Zima, vice president of commercial banking at Capital One.
