DETAILS: Long and short dresses are being accepted. Donations should be dry cleaned and on hangers. The 2013 Dress Giveaway will be Saturday, March 9, at the Louisiana State Police Headquarters. High school students and brides in financial need of a dress are welcome to attend.

WHAT: 26th annual Karnival Krewe de Louisiane Mardi Gras Ball.

DETAILS: The krewe holds its annual ball as a fundraiser for Mary Bird Perkins-Our Lady of the Lake Cancer Center. Membership in the krewe is necessary in order to attend the ball. New membership is $350, and renewal after the first year is $450. Members receive two tickets to the ball and two tickets to the Fall Coronation Social. Deadline to purchase tickets is Jan. 24.
