Women Veterans go to military parade
Women Veterans of Louisiana participated in the bicentennial military appreciation parade on Nov. 10 in New Orleans. The parade honored all military branches: Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard.
Participating were Anna Sanders, Janice Johnson, Maria Pons and Rhonda Arnold, Air Force; Kerry Sully, Ramona Hudson and Laura Bowman, Navy; and Angela Evans and Shirley Avants, Army.
Dignitaries in attendance included Lt. Gov. Jay Dardenne, U.S. Sen. Mary Landrieu and New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu. The route included the French Quarter and National World War II Museum and ended at the Morial Convention Center, where the USO hosted a reception for all military personnel.
Representing Women Veterans of Louisiana were members who served in the military during the Vietnam War, Operation Desert Storm and operations in Afghanistan and Iraq.
