MUSEUM FASHION SHOW

  • DETAILS: The West Baton Rouge Museum and Hemline@ LSU will host the historically-inspired runway fashion show, which complements the museum’s exhibit “Our Lives, Our Stories: America’s Greatest Generation.” The show will feature original designs, restyled looks and illustrations created by students from LSU’s Textiles, Apparel Design and Merchandising Department. Fashion entries are inspired by the early 1900s through the 1960s. Ashley Westerman, the host for WRKF’s Morning Edition, will emcee the free show. A reception will follow.

HUNGER AWARENESS AWARDS

  • EVENT: “New Orleans Bread for the World Hunger Awareness Award Meal.”

  • DETAILS: The award meal will honor individuals and organizations working to end hunger and poverty in the metro New Orleans area. Eden Gorney will receive the Lindy Boggs Hunger Awareness Award for her service to the needy on the North Shore. Luke’s House will receive the Special Recognition Award for its service to the needy in New Orleans. Finally, St. Peter Claver Parish Religious Education Youth will receive the Dedicated Service Award for their community services. The New Orleans Artists Against Hunger & Homelessness will also give grants to 13 outstanding organizations that provide food and shelter. The recipients are By-Water Project, Food for Families/Food for Seniors, Hope House, Just the Right Attitude, Lantern Light, Luke’s House, NO/AIDS Taskforce Food for Friends, Project Lazarus, Ozanam Inn, Raintree Children & Family Services, Samaritan Center, Southeast Legal Services and St. Jude Community Center. Tickets are $15 each.

BASS PRO SHOP

The night will have a Christmas Village with slot car racing, laser and soft gun arcades, remote control cars and trains and free photos with Santa. Free photos will be available until 9 p.m. Children can also make stuffed owl ornaments. The drawings for Bass Pro Shop gift cards will start at 7:30 p.m.

PARK GRAND OPENING

BR ARTS MARKET

  • EVENT: Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge’s “Baton Rouge Arts Market.”

  • DETAILS: The market, usually held the first Saturday of each month, features more than 70 local artists selling pottery, jewelry, metal sculptures, hand-made soaps, hand-knit garments and more. The market will also have free children’s activities at the Arts Market’s Kids Booth. It is held in conjunction with the Red Stick Farmers Market and the Main Street Market. During inclement weather, the market will relocate to the Glavez parking garage, 500 Main St.

ENCHANTED MANSION

Cost is $18 per person and $5 for children under age 2. Reservations and deposits are required.
