Amazing Place

This fundraiser is being called “An Inspiring Evening to Foster a Future.”

WHAT: This Amazing Place Fundraiser.

WHEN: 7 p.m. Thursday.

WHERE: Healing Place Church Arena, 19202 Highland Road, Baton Rouge.

DETAILS: Highlighting the event will be dinner, music and speakers, door prizes and cash giveaways. Proceeds will be used to address the transitional living needs of Louisiana’s aging-out foster children and homeless boys, ages 16-21.

Santa Fun Run

Did I just see a bunch of Santas flash by?

WHAT: Kiwanis Santa Fun Run, a 2-mile run, presented by The Sightings.

WHEN: 5 p.m. (prior to the Christmas parade) Saturday.

WHERE: Downtown Baton Rouge through the Christmas parade route.

DETAILS: Everyone in the run will be wearing a “full” Santa suit. Registration fees through Thursday are: children 7 and under, free; ages 8 to 12, $25 per person; ages 13 to 17, $35; and adults, $45. Proceeds will benefit Pat’s Coats for Kids, the St. Elizabeth Foundation and the Kiwanis children’s fund.

Ikebana exhibit

See the Japanese art of flower arrangement.

WHAT: Ikebana International, Baton Rouge chapter No. 42’s 50th annual exhibit.

WHEN: Noon to 4 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

WHERE: East Baton Rouge Parish Bluebonnet Regional Branch Library, 9200 Bluebonnet Blvd., Baton Rouge.

DETAILS: There will be at least 25 flower arrangements plus a feature table with arrangements created with Japanese sake ware.

Food for Fines

Get a break on those library fines and help someone in the process.

WHAT: East Baton Rouge Parish Library’s Food for Fines program.

WHEN: Until Dec. 30.

WHERE: All branches.

DETAILS: Bring in a nonperishable food item and the library will waive $1 owed on library fines per item. All items will be donated to the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank.
