Losavios named Family of the Month

Wayne and Sarah Losavio received the September Family of the Month Award by the Knights of Columbus Council 9692 at an Oct. 28 reception at St. Jude Catholic Church. Grand Knight David Goldsmith and the Rev. Trey Nelson presented the award.

Wayne is president of the St. Jude School Advisory Council and belongs to the Men’s Club. He and his wife have served as Ministers of the Word and attended the Parents in Prayer Workshop. They participate in the Family Life ministry, Respect for Life ministry and Vocations Statue ministry. Sarah has served on the Parish Advisory Council and participated in the Sunday School and nursery ministries. She is co-chairwoman of the Play and Pray ministry and Vacation Bible School. She has participated in Renew, is a member of one of the Small Faith Groups, belongs to a rosary prayer group, is a school volunteer and is the chairwoman of the Music Makers ministry. The Losavios have three daughters: Caroline, Margaret and Anne.

Parliamentarians hold Oct. 30 meeting

The Baton Rouge Unit of Parliamentarians discussed motions to reconsider and executive session on Oct. 30 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel.

BRUP is hosting a parliamentary seminar led by District Six Director Alison Wallis, a registered professional parliamentarian, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday in the Magnolia Library computer lab at Baton Rouge Community College. The course will empower students to participate in any meeting, preside with skill and serve as active members in their clubs. Teachers will be professional parliamentarians and experienced teachers.
