ANIMAL ALLIANCE

  • DETAILS: During Celebrating Seniors, the CAA will offer a $25 adoption fee to people who adopt senior animals, age 5 or older, and to seniors, age 55 or older, who adopt any animal. Seniors who adopt senior animals will pay no fee during the event. CAA also has a new pricing policy that allows seniors, age 65 or older, to adopt senior animals with no fee. All animals are spayed or neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on vaccinations. Shelter hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday through Sunday, and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday.

  • DETAILS: WBRZ’s coat drive will feature the fourth annual “Pack the Pod” day where participants will pack a portable-on-demand storage unit with coats and monetary donations. The drive will continue collecting new and clean used coats for children and adults or monetary donations until Saturday. A monetary donation of $20 will purchase a new coat provided by the nonprofit organization, Operation Warm. CRUISIN’ N.O. CAR SHOW

  • EVENT: Cruisin’ New Orleans Car Show @ The French Market.

  • DETAILS: The first Cruisin’ New Orleans Car Show will take place during Bayou Classic Weekend at the NOLA Downtown Music and Arts Festival, which will feature local acts on the grounds, an indoor concert with Stephanie Jordan at the Old U.S. Mint. The Bayou Classic is an annual football game featuring one of the country’s greatest college sports rivalries, Southern University and Grambling State University. Some of the cars in the show will participate in the Bayou Classic Thanksgiving Parade Thursday before the car show. Admission is free for the car show and festival grounds. The indoor concert will have a modest admission charge.

MACY’S CAMPAIGN

  • DETAILS: Macy’s invites believers of all ages to bring their letters to Santa to their local Macy’s. For every Santa letter Macy’s gets, Macy’s will donate $1 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, an organization that grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. The goal is to raise $1 million for the foundation.
