Wonder what people are reading, watching, listening to or want to know about? Here’s a report from the East Baton Rouge Parish Library staff.

MOST REQUESTED BOOK: “The Casual Vacancy” by J. K. Rowling
MOST CHECKED OUT AUDIO BOOK: “Fahrenheit 451” by Ray Bradbury
MOST CHECKED OUT CD: “More than 50 Most Loved Hymns”
MOST CHECKED OUT DVD: “The Help”
FUN FACT: Since the launch of Ed2Go in the summer, more than 900 library patrons have registered for free, online learning courses. Most recently, such business courses as Accounting Fundamentals, Excel 2010, Start Your Own Small Business and Grammar Refresher are leading the pack.
Lifelong learners have enrolled in such classes as Start Your Own Edible Garden, The Pleasures of Poetry, Cooking Light, Travel Writing and Travel Photography.
There are more than 300 classes to choose from. These six-week courses begin each month. It’s all free to you with your library card.
REFERENCE QUESTION: How early and often should women get mammograms?
ANSWER: The National Cancer Institute recommends that women who are 40-years-old and older should get a mammogram every 1 to 2 years. Women who have had breast cancer or have a family history of the disease may need to begin screenings younger and have them more often.

ANSWER: According to the National Retail Federation, the witch and the vampire are the top two costume choices for adults; the princess and Batman costumes are tops for children. Top pet costumes are the pumpkin and devil outfits.
