Altar Society holds purple and gold event
The St. Louis King of France Altar Society held a luncheon on Sept. 17 at the Parish Activity Center. Purple and gold was used for the theme.
President Teenie Bajon thanked members for their participation. Monsignor Leo Guillot thanked them for their work and dedication to the church.
Bajon thanked Betty Baughman, Martha Desselles, Marie Harrell, Linda Musso, Susan Ricaud, Rita Valentine, Charlene Wilson, Mary Scallan, Barbara Schmitt, Evelyn Simoneaux, Calvin Bajon, Jerry Wilson and Buddy Ricaud for helping in decorating and serving. Sonny’s Barbecue provided some of the lunch, and the Bajons prepared the rest.
Bajon recognized members who have died since the May meeting: Elaine Harelson, Rea White, Claudine Polito, Irene Thibodeaux, Rae Solar and Maybelle Cannon. Schmitt presented purple and gold wreaths as door prizes.
Museum Friends thanked by director
Louisiana State Museum interim Director Robert Wheat thanked the Louisiana State Museum Friends for the group’s support of the Capitol Park Museum when the support organization held its monthly board meeting on Sept. 18.
Lana Venable talked about early plans for the fundraiser to be held Saturday, June 8, 2013. Tom Bergman and Ben Pierce were welcomed as new board members.
Museum Division Director Bill Stark gave an update on the museum programs. Lunchtime Lagniappe began on Oct. 3 with five programs each Wednesday on discovering Louisiana’s history and traditions. A Capitol Park walking tours is scheduled for Nov. 3.
