SU Homecoming Court to be presented at ceremony

Miss Southern University Erin Rogers and her court will be presented at a coronation ceremony Wednesday in the F.G. Clark Activity Center on the Baton Rouge campus and at 4:45 p.m. prior to the kickoff of Saturday’s Homecoming game against Texas Southern University.
Rogers and the rest of her court were chosen for their positions through student elections.
The coronation, which is mostly planned and designed by Miss Southern, begins at 7:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public. A mask and formal attire are required.
Rogers, a native of New Orleans, is a biology major with a double minor in chemistry and Spanish. She is a graduate of Xavier University Preparatory School in New Orleans.
She succeeds 2011-12 Miss Southern Chisolu Isiadinsu, a Baton Rouge native and graduate of Christian Life Academy.
Since winning the title, Rogers, a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority, has been working with the university’s “Up ’til Dawn” fundraising project for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, participating in community service activities in the Scotlandville community and serving as one of the leaders of the campuswide register-to-vote effort.
The members of Miss Southern’s court are:
- Miss Senior, Rashieka Blaze, is a biology major with a minor in Spanish and a graduate of C.E. Byrd High School in Shreveport;
- Miss Junior, Kaylyn Chriss, is a nursing major with a minor in Spanish and a graduate of Christian Life Academy in Baton Rouge;
- Miss Sophomore, Tyler Thompson, is a nursing major and graduate of SU Laboratory School on the Baton Rouge campus; and
- Miss Freshman, JaMya Magee, is a nursing major and graduate of Bogalusa High School in Bogalusa.
