Peck receives St. Jude KC’s family award
Sidney Peck received the July Family of the Month Award by the Knights of Columbus Council 9692 from Grand Knight David Goldsmith at a reception on Aug. 26 at St. Jude Catholic Church.
Peck went through the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults in 2010-11 and immediately became involved in ministries upon becoming a St. Jude member. He is an RCIA sponsor and is a member of the Knights of Columbus. He has helped with KC fundraisers and the St. Jude fair and assisted the Men’s Club with work projects at St. Jude School. He participates in the Small Christian Community groups, is a Eucharistic minister, a Mass greeter and a member of the Disaster Preparedness Ministry. He is a member of the Transportation Ministry and the St. Jude Chapter of the St. Vincent de Paul Society. He serves on the St. Jude Capital Campaign Committee. His daughter, Lindsey, who also went through the St. Jude RCIA program, has volunteered at the school.

Beta Sigma Phi holds Beginning Day event
Laureate Alpha Gamma Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi held its Beginning Day on Sept. 4 at President Phyllis Turner’s home. Turner, Vice President Verlyn LeBlanc, Recording Secretary Jean Leyda, Corresponding Secretary Page Meyer, Treasurer Virginia Huffman and Extension Officer Gail Keller provided the meal.
Service Committee Chairwoman Marilyn Mayeux spoke on projects for the year and reported on the Aug. 11 fundraiser at the City Park Museum for Baton Rouge Green. Social Committee Chairwoman Dixie Gregory announced social events. Meyer, Ways and Means chairwoman, passed out silver-plated spoons painted by Turner, which will be sold to raise funds. Turner welcomed guest Carole Cross and congratulated new member Anne Smith.
Trianon discusses upcoming fundraiser
Trianon, the auxiliary to Arc of Baton Rouge, discussed the annual Trianon Event on Aug. 23 at President Tammy Duos’ home.
Chairwoman Stella Goodbee said the event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, at the Renaissance Hotel. There will be a bazaar with handmade items, a silent auction, fashion show from Chatta Box, Trianon coffee punch and breads. Marianne Beck said invitations are ready to be mailed and the ticket price is $50. Ann Suire shared some of the items that will be on sale in the bazaar. Meeting hostesses were Connie Smith, Marianne Beck, Sherry Scimeca and Duos.
