MOUSSA NAMED TO HONORS ORGANIZATION: Yaseen M. Moussa, of Baton Rouge, has been named a member of Sigma Alpha Lambda National Leadership and Honors Organization at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond. Sigma Alpha Lambda promotes and rewards academic achievement and provides members with opportunities for community service, personal development and lifelong professional fulfillment.

Military

SCOTT COMPLETES BASIC: Air Force Airman 1st Class Zennitha J. Scott graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. Scott is the granddaughter of John and Barbara Oby, of Baton Rouge, and is a 2006 graduate of Belaire High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in 2010 from Southern University.

LANGLOIS COMPLETES BASIC: Air National Guard Airman Sadie A. Langlois graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. Langlois is the daughter of Monica Langlois, of Baton Rouge, and is a 2011 graduate of Woodlawn High School.

PAUL COMPLETES BASIC: Army Pvt. Chase D. Paul has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. Paul is the son of Barbara and Godfrey Wheeler, of Baton Rouge, and is a 2010 graduate of Glen Oaks High School.

HOLLOWAY COMPLETES BASIC: Jonathan Blake Holloway graduated from U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Ill., on Aug. 31. He is the son of Jonathan Holloway Sr., of Baton Rouge, and Rebecca Bynum Holloway, of Houston, and is a graduate of University High School and earned a bachelor of arts degree in political science and Spanish from Southern University.

FREEMAN COMPLETES CADET BASIC TRAINING: Cadet William Pierce Freeman, son of Courtney and Louis M. Freeman Jr., of Baton Rouge and New Orleans, completed six weeks of cadet basic training at the U.S. Military Academy. He also won the best marksmanship award from among 1,100 new cadets.

The initial military training program provides cadets with basic skills to instill discipline, pride, cohesion, confidence and a high sense of duty to prepare them for entry into the Corps of Cadets. Freeman graduated from Culver Military Academy. He plans to graduate from West Point in 2016 and be commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army.
