LSU TEXTILE & COSTUME

The sale will feature vintage, retro and modern clothing for all ages. It will also feature accessories, designer clothing and evening gowns. The LSU Textile & Costume Museum seeks to preserve, collect and research textile artifacts.
JAMBALAYA COOK-OFF
- EVENT: 5th annual Papa George Fairchild Jambalaya Cook-off.

- DETAILS: The annual jambalaya cook-off will raise funds for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Local cooks will start cooking chicken jambalaya on wood at 6 a.m. with the winners being announced at 1:30 p.m. Jambalaya will be served with white beans and bread starting at 11 a.m. Cost is $5 per serving. The benefit will also have music, fellowship and a raffle for homemade quilts and other donated items. Sweets and other items will be available. Admission is free.

Betsy McAlister Groves, a licensed social worker and founding director of the Child Witness to Violence Project at Boston Medical Center, will speak. Groves, who wrote “Children Who See Too Much: Lessons from the Child Witness to Violence Project,” will talk about the impact of community and family violence on young children and on engaging community systems in identifying and responding to children who are affected by violence.
