POP QUIZ: Shelton Jones

Each week The Advocate asks a different “quiz taker” for his or her current favorites in pop culture.

QUIZ TAKER: Shelton Jones, 39, co-founder of The Cinderella Project and capital campaign coordinator for the Baton Rouge Speech & Hearing Foundation.

WHAT I’M LISTENING TO: “Amos Lee on Pandora (online radio).”

WHAT I’M READING: “‘The Forgotten Garden,’ by Kate Morton.”

WHAT I’M WATCHING: “Re-runs of ‘Friday Night Lights.’”

WHERE I’M SURFING (ON THE INTERNET): “http://www.SFGate.com, http://www.PoshBrood.com.”

WHAT’S YOUR GUILTY PLEASURE? “Any flavor of gelato from Latte e Miele.”

BONUS QUESTION:

Do you remember your favorite prom dress?

“It was the ’80s, so the puffier the better. I wore a dress made up of yards and yards of black and green taffeta with rhinestone spaghetti straps and, of course, elbow-length black satin gloves. Clearly, I was channeling Cyndi Lauper.”

EVENT INFORMATION: Since 2008, The Cinderella Project, an all-volunteer organization, has collected evening gowns for girls who cannot afford to buy prom dresses. Thursday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Angelique Boutique (17455 Perkins Road) will host “Fashion’s Night Out,” a night of shopping and cocktails to benefit The Cinderella Project.
