“Style File” column for Sept. 4, 2012

NAME: Terri Duplantier.

AGE: 40.

OCCUPATION: Hairstylist at Salon Boheme.

Tell us about what you’re wearing.

“I’m wearing a simple black dress I picked up in New York City last week. Shoes are black patent-leather platform slingbacks with a cork heal by Moda Spana.”

What’s the best fashion advice you’ve ever gotten?

“My mother taught me ‘less is more.’”

What’s your favorite trend right now?

“The trend I am most excited about in fall ’12 is the new preppy!! Monograms, loafers, etc. I can’t wait!!”

Finish this sentence. I splurge on ...

“I splurge on jewelry.”

I skimp on ...

“I skimp on face soap. Neutrogena translucent bar; it’s the only thing that works with my sensitive skin.”

Are you a shoe or handbag kind of woman?

How many pairs do you own?

“I have no clue; I’ve never counted.”

Name a celebrity whose closet you’d like to raid.

“Katie Holmes, I think she has such a classic style.”

What’s the one beauty product you can’t live without?

“My favorite product is Pureology Precious Oil. It restores softness, elasticity, shine and moisture to hair AND skin. Plus it smells great!!”

What was your worst fashion mistake?

“In 1989, I borrowed my sister’s emerald-green taffeta strapless bubble dress for a Christmas banquet! I didn’t realize how horrible it was until the pictures developed. I still cringe at the thought of it!”

Your house is on fire and you can grab only one thing out of your closet; what would it be?

“If my house was on fire, I’d grab my White House Black Market skinny jeans. They are so comfy and go with everything!”
