“John Quincy Adams said that ‘If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.’ This quote summarizes what a great leader should be. Being a leader is not about having power or controlling others, but inspiring them to be the best they can be. This allows them to effect positive change in theirs and others’ lives. That is what being a leader truly means to me.”

Extra: Wendt this summer attended the 2012 Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership World Leadership Congress at Loyola University Chicago’s Lakeshore campus, where more than 425 students representing 15 countries met for a weeklong program that included educational sessions, collaborative workshops, leadership exercises, community service projects and individualized training. He is also involved in such activities as cross country, Student Council, Spirit Club, Campus Ministry, French Club, Drama Club, Ambassadors and the Diocesan Youth Board.
