Each week The Advocate asks a different “quiz taker” for his or her current favorites in pop culture.

QUIZ TAKER: Symil LeDoux, 35, executive director of the American Cancer Society

WHAT I’M LISTENING TO: “R&B, pop and gospel. Michael Jackson, Alicia Keys, Mary J. Blige and Marvin Sapp are some of my favorites. Basically, if it’s music, I love it!”

WHAT I’M READING: “To keep up with the latest news, Business Report, The Advocate, Social Scene, City Social and inRegister. For personal entertainment ... romantic novels. Yes, I read ‘Fifty Shades of Grey!’”

WHAT I’M WATCHING: “I love crime and police shows! ‘Criminal Minds,’ ‘The Mentalist’ and ‘NCIS’ are all programmed on my DVR. In my previous life, I was a forensic analyst on a TV show. Also, love watching reruns of some of my favorite comedies like ‘Friends’ and ‘Golden Girls.’”

WHERE I’M SURFING (ON THE INTERNET): “Amazon, CNN, Facebook and http://www.Cancer.org. I had to give it a plug!”

WHAT’S YOUR GUILTY PLEASURE? “Bread! It should not be considered a guilty pleasure. I have no trouble admitting my love for it. I would shout it from a rooftop!”

BONUS QUESTION:

You will be throwing the American Cancer Society’s Jamaica Me Crazy Party for a Cure on Aug. 11. What is the secret to a good party?

“The secret is having a passionate volunteer committee! Jamaica Me Crazy has grown into a fabulous event over the last few years. We at the American Cancer Society truly know that none of the support that we get from our sponsors, donors and attendees would be possible without them!”

EVENT INFORMATION: The American Cancer Society’s sixth annual Jamaica Me Crazy Party for a Cure is 7 p.m. Saturday at the Hilton Baton Rouge Capitol Center, 201 Lafayette St. Tickets are $75 per person or $125 per couple. Visit http://www.batonrougejamaicamecrazy.org for more details.
