‘Stuff the Bus’
Donate No. 2 pencils, pens, 1- and 2-inch binders, dividers, pocket folders, construction paper, marble composition notebooks, color pencils, markers, dry erase markers, compasses, protractors, rulers, scissors, index cards, paper towel rolls, hand sanitizer, glue sticks and spiral notebooks as well as loose-leaf, wide-ruled paper.
WHAT: WBRZ’s annual “Stuff the Bus” school supply drive for needy school children is supported by Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers, Office Depot, St. Elizabeth Hospital, the East Baton Rouge and Ascension Parish school systems, Volunteers in Public Schools and Volunteer Ascension.
WHEN: 6 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
WHERE: Office Depot at 3116 College Drive in Baton Rouge and 703 N. Airline Highway in Gonzales.
DETAILS: Raising Cane’s will be collecting school supply donations at its greater Baton Rouge area restaurants through Wednesday with those who give receiving a free 21-ounce lemonade or other beverage. Those who donate during collection day at the Office Depots on Wednesday will receive free lemonade cards good at Raising Cane’s locations. The goal is to fill one East Baton Rouge Parish school bus and one Ascension Parish school bus with supplies.
Clean out the closet
The Friends of the LSU Textile & Costume Museum needs donations of vintage, retro and modern clothing for all ages along with accessories.
WHAT: A donation collection day in preparation for the annual Your Friends Closet Sale this fall.
WHEN: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
WHERE: College Drive Mini-Storage, 4866-2 Revere Drive (behind Hobby Lobby).

DETAILS: The Your Friends Closet Sale is scheduled for Oct. 14 and will also feature designer clothing, and evening and wedding gowns. Proceeds will go to the Friends, a nonprofit, community-based organization that provides essential support for the LSU Textile & Costume Museum.
A fancy playhouse
Help give a voice for abused and neglected children and get a chance to win a new playhouse.
WHAT: “Casas for CASA” is a three-week fundraiser supporting Court Appointed Special Advocates.
WHEN: Beginning Saturday and continuing through Aug. 12.
WHERE: The CASA playhouse exhibit is near the lower-level elevator at the Mall of Louisiana.

DETAILS: Raffle tickets are $5 and are available at the mall, the CASA office (848 Louisiana Ave.) and online at http://www.casabr.org. A “CASA Fiesta,” from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday, July 22 at the Mall of Louisiana, will feature a silent auction, Mexican cuisine, margaritas and dancing with live music from The Better Than Nobody Band. Fiesta tickets are $50. CASA Kids Day, from noon to 5 p.m. Aug. 12 at the Mall of Louisiana, is a free afternoon of performances and activities for children and concludes with the playhouse drawing at 5 p.m.
