Laurie Hardison
July 02, 2012
Each week The Advocate asks a different “quiz taker” for his or her current favorites in pop culture.
QUIZ TAKER: Laurie Hardison, 55, volunteer and public information director for the Big Buddy Program in Baton Rouge.
WHAT I’M LISTENING TO: “Lately I’ve found myself listening to Pandora while at my desk. I love it because I can create a station based on whatever mood I’m in at the time. Today it’s salsa!”
WHAT I’M READING: “I decided to revisit the classics this summer. I’m in the middle of ‘Les Miserables’ right now in anticipation of the upcoming movie. I have seen the musical several times.”
WHAT I’M WATCHING: “Catching up on the first season of ‘Downton Abbey.’ I’m coming late to the party.”
WHERE I’M SURFING (ON THE INTERNET): “Why http://www.bigbuddyprogram.org of course! Guess it’s a sign of the times that I tend to get my news from Facebook first. I also love to check out the Food Network site. I’m always looking for something new to cook.”
WHAT’S YOUR GUILTY PLEASURE? “A long nap when I should be doing something else.”
BONUS QUESTION:
What’s the best reason to get involved in the Big Buddy Program?
“You can truly make a difference in the life of a child and, by extension, our community. The crime and violence problem plaguing Baton Rouge can’t be arrested away. It is systemic and must be dealt with accordingly. Help direct a child, and you will stop the problem before it begins.”
