The East Baton Rouge Parish Jones Creek Regional Branch Library celebrates 22 years of service to the Baton Rouge community.
WHAT: There will be a weeklong Open House with special family programs, displays and presentations.

DETAILS: The week’s activities will culminate at noon Saturday with a block party on the library green. Local bands, choirs and a DJ will entertain, and there will be birthday cake.
Citizen Dinner
The local Boy Scout District Cypress Chauve, the Istrouma Area Council and the Boy Scouts of America invite the public to their first Distinguished Citizen Dinner.
WHEN: 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday.

DETAILS: The dinner will honor Bill and Mary Lee Dixon for their support of Scouting and the Ascension Parish community. Eagle Scout, actor, comedian and WWL Radio host John “Spud” McConnell will be guest speaker. Tickets range from $100 per couple to $400 per table. All proceeds will support activities for the Cypress Chauve local Boy Scout District.
St. Jude run
The 2012 fourth annual Run for the Children 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk benefits St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

DETAILS: Registration fees are $25 for adults and $15 for children 12 and under. There will be a “Run Wild” theme for the family event, and top finishers and the Best Jungle/Safari Costume will be given awards. After the run/walk, there will be live entertainment, food and family fun.
Mini-Golf tourney
Did someone say peanut butter cups?
WHAT: 10/31 Consortium, a local nonprofit planning Baton Rouge’s only Halloween Parade, will host its second annual Peanut Butter Cup Mini-Golf Tournament.
WHEN: 6:30 p.m. May 31.
WHERE: Celebration Station, Gwenadele Avenue.

DETAILS: Teams are four people or fewer. Participants can be placed on a team if needed. Ticket prices are $25, Consortium members; $31, nonmembers; and $15, children 12 and under; and include 18 holes of mini-golf, sodas and a pizza buffet. Payment can be made at the door. The winning team will be awarded the Peanut Butter Cup-filled trophy to display for one year. The best individual score will be awarded an engraved plaque. Attendees are encouraged to bring nonperishable food items for the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank.
Crawfish Classic
Tennis and crawfish — what a combination.
WHAT: The 2012 Baton Rouge Crawfish Classic Tennis Tournament will benefit Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center.
WHEN: June 1-3.

DETAILS: Players will compete in mixed doubles. Match play will begin Friday night and continue Saturday and Sunday. Entry fee is $60 per person and includes admittance to a crawfish boil on Saturday night and adult beverages and food every day.
