Pop Quiz for Wednesday, May 9, 2012

Each week The Advocate asks a different “quiz taker” for his or her current favorites in pop culture.

QUIZ TAKER: Rock Rockenbaugh, 57, president of Kean’s Fine Dry Cleaning.

WHAT ARE YOU LISTENING TO: “I listen to music from the ’60s, the ’50s, a little Sinatra and a blend of popular music.”

WHAT I’M READING: “I just finished reading ‘Mrs. Kennedy & Me.’ It was written by the Secret Service agent (Clint Hill) who was guarding her when the president was shot. It’s very interesting. Right now I’m reading ‘The Killing of Lincoln’ by Bill O’Reilly.”

WHAT I’M WATCHING: “‘Dancing with the Stars’ and ‘American Idol.’”

WHERE I’M SURFING (ON THE INTERNET): “Fox news, http://www.msn.com and other news and sports sites.”

WHAT’S YOUR GUILTY PLEASURE? “Golf, whenever I can. My second one would be when I get home at night, about 7, I sit in my chair and have a glass of wine. It’s part of our routine; Missy cooks while I sit for a while and I clean up.”

BONUS QUESTION:

How did you get involved with Big Buddy and why do you stay involved?

“It was the first year Dancing with Big Buddy took place. I was at Rotary and Erma (Hines), who was on the Big Buddy Board, said ‘Come sit with me.’ She told me I was going to buy a table for Dancing with Big Buddy. I asked her if I could split it with my buddy Lane (McDaniel). The next year, he and I were both Star Dancers. I got on the board and have been there ever since. As an employer, I see every day the results of an uneducated workforce. If we don’t take care of our kids we’re all going to pay in the future. That’s what Big Buddy does. It provides positive role models and opportunities for kids who wouldn’t otherwise have them.”
