A few years ago, the food team featured meatballs as the theme for an expo and in related features. There were meatball bars and interesting stories on entertaining with meatballs as the star attraction.
Note to self: meatballs aren’t just for appetizers or entertaining.
You have to love meatballs for their versatility. We all know about meatballs and spaghetti, but try experimenting with a lunch or dinner sub. If your children are too little to manage holding a sub, give them a child-sized fork and let them go to town.
Italian meatballs, or meatballs with gravy, do very well in the slow cooker. Grocery freezer sections stock different types of meatballs for your convenience or make your own if you are so inclined.
Here’s my own concoction for Sweet and Sour Sausage Meatballs. The sausage adds another flavor dimension, but it can easily be left out if you are a meatball purist.
Pick up your favorite sub rolls, cut up some fruit and add a salad for an easy meal on a busy night.
