Baton Rouge Irish Club holds wine, food event
Award-winning chef Matt Murphy, of The Irish House, New Orleans, will prepare the foods for The Baton Rouge Irish Club’s annual Wine and Food Experience at 7 p.m. Sept. 13 at the Celtic Media Centre, 10000 Celtic Drive, Baton Rouge.
The event also includes live music by the band North Channel and a silent auction. Guests will receive a commemorative wine glass. Proceeds will help fund the 2014 Baton Rouge Irish Film Festival.

Learn how to make tamales for tailgating
Dana DeLatte, founder of Sharp Cook, will offer a step-by-step cooking class, Tailgating With Tamales, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sept. 19 at Alexander’s Highland Market, 18111 Highland Road, Baton Rouge.
In addition to authentic Cajun-style tamales, the menu will include fresh chunky salsa; an easy appetizer or side dish; and chocolate tamale for dessert.

Celebrate ‘Halfway to St. Patrick’s Day’

The weekend-long party will begin at 2 p.m. Sept. 13 with an Irish cooking demonstration at the French Quarter Market, followed by music with Beth Patterson. The party continues at the restaurant from 3 p.m. to 2 a.m.
