Summer Cure Chefs Wine Dinner slated

Windsor Court, 300 Gravier St., New Orleans, will host the 12th Annual Summer Cure Chefs Wine Dinner on Friday.
This event offers live entertainment, live and silent auctions, dinner prepared by chefs from New Orleans and surrounding areas and selected wines by Wine Importers Extraordinaire. All proceeds will be donated to Susan G. Komen New Orleans.
The 2013 lineup of chefs includes: chef John Currence, City Grocery, Oxford Bouré and Big Bad Breakfast, of Oxford, Miss.; and New Orleans chefs Phillip Lopez, Root and soon-to-be Square Root; Shun Li, The Grill Room, Windsor Court Hotel; Ryan Prewitt, Peche Restaurant and Isaac Toups, Toups Meatery.

Martha White Muffin Mix Challenge set
Celebrate Christmas in July and show off your baking creativity by entering the sixth annual Martha White Holiday Muffin Mix Challenge.
Entries are being accepted through Sept. 12. Winners will be announced in November.
Entries must be original recipes suitable for entertaining and use at least one pouch of Martha White Muffin Mix in two new categories:
Crowd Pleasers are desserts to wow six or more people at a holiday brunch, dinner or significant holiday celebration, such as cakes, tarts, pies, cobblers, cookies, pastries, tortes, rolls, crepes, cheesecakes or trifles.
Simply 6 must be simple recipes requiring only six ingredients or fewer to create holiday cheer and ease holiday baking pressures, such as cookies, cakes, muffins, bars, scones, breads, waffles, pancakes, parfaits, or sweet or savory appetizers.
The grand prize winner will be awarded $5,000 plus an additional $1,000 as winner of its category. The top three recipes in each category will be posted online at marthawhite.com for a national online vote between Oct. 14 and Nov. 12.

Botanic Garden plans herb sale on Aug. 10
Looking for new culinary herb plants? Herbs are among the summer plants which will be sold at the 14th annual Plant Sale and Gardening Expo from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 10 at the Botanic Garden, 7950 Independence Blvd., Baton Rouge.
All proceeds go to development of the Botanic Garden. The garden was established in 1990 and is being maintained by various plant societies and individual volunteers working together with BREC.
SoFAB to celebrate food, drink in N.O.
The SoFAB Institute’s sixth annual celebration of food and drink will held Friday at the Preservation Resource Center, 923 Tchoupitoulas St.
The patron party will be from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. and the gala from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Tickets are $160 for the patron party and $90 for the gala.
Guests will enjoy specialty cocktails by Bayou Rum, beer, wine and food from popup (and future restaurant of SoFAB) Purloo while mingling with panelists from the Farm to Table Interntional Symposium and bidding on items at the auction.

Cocktail and Song symposium slated
Bill deTurk will present a symposium on pairing music to cocktails served at parties at 5:30 p.m. Monday at SoBou Restaurant, 310 Chartres St., New Orleans.
