Crescent City Fest seeking food vendors

Food vendors are wanted for the Crescent City Blues & BBQ Festival.

The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation, which produces the event, said food offerings will be expanded at the festival set for Oct. 18-20, and it wants to add to the roster of vendors.

Applications are being accepted until Aug. 2.

Londoner Pub slates Belgium beer dinner

The Londoner Pub & Grill, 4215 S. Sherwood Forest Blvd., Baton Rouge, has scheduled a new Belgium beer dinner for 6:30 p.m. Aug. 14.

The menu will include fried cheese kebabs and smoked cheeses paired with Fat Tire Amber Ale; a mixed greens salad with duck breast, paired with Sunshine Wheat; French onion soup with Trippel Belgian Style Ale; slow-roasted beef brisket with polenta paired with 1554 Enlightened Black Ale, and a surprise dessert pairing.

Chipotle turns 20, plans treasure hunt

Chipotle Mexican Grill is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a three-week treasure hunt, “Adventurrito,” that will include 20 online puzzles and daily prizes. Complete all 20 puzzles and achieve the ultimate Chipotle prize: free burritos for 20 years.

The contest kicks off July 13 and continues for 19 days. The daily puzzles will be unlocked at 9:20 p.m. at adventurrito.com.

Players will have 24 hours to answer. Winners will be announced by Aug. 15.

Competitors sought for Hot Dog Idol event

July is National Hot Dog Month and to celebrate, the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council has kicked off a Hot Dog Idol competition.

Fans of hot dogs can win a $250 gift card for creating their perfect summer picnic by submitting a video or audio post singing a song about hot dogs.

The songs can be an original tune or changed lyrics to a popular song, but must profess a love of hot dogs. For full contest guidelines and rules, go to www.hot-dog.org. Entries are due by noon July 11.

Finalists will be posted on the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council Facebook page on July 12 for fans to choose their favorites. The songs with the most votes will be announced on National Hot Dog Day, July 17.

Paragon Casino hosts culinary fundraiser

Paragon Casino Resort will be the site of the 10th annual La Cuisine de la Louisiane, a culinary benefit for the American Red Cross of Central Louisiana, Camp Bon Coeur in Lafayette and the Avoyelles Society for the Developmentally Disabled. It will held from 5:30 pm. to 7:30 p.m. July 28 in the resort’s Mari Showroom.

Guests will taste items prepared by restaurants from throughout the state and entertainment will be provided by Kip Sonnier.

Good Food Awards seeks entrants

The Good Food Awards, a national initiative to recognize American craft food producers who excel in taste and sustainability, is seeking entries in the categories of beer, charcuterie, cheese, chocolate, coffee, confections, pickles, preserves, spirits and oil.

The year’s 100 winners will be selected through a blind tasting by 150 food movement leaders. Winners will be showcased at a special one-day Good Food Awards Marketplace at the CUESA Ferry Plaza Farmers Market in San Francisco on Jan. 18.

Food producers may enter through July 31 at goodfoodawards.org.

There is a $60 fee for each entry to cover sorting, transportation and storage.
