New Orleans restaurants are tweaking their menus, making them cooler and affordable.
Remoulade, the casual side of Arnaud’s restaurant at 309 Bourbon St., will be offering 75-cent Louisiana Gulf oysters on the half-shell and Miller High Life beer at its Double Aphrodisiac Happy Hour.
The special promotion will be available from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday through Sept. 20.

Ralph’s on the Park, 900 City Park Ave., is presenting its summer dinner promotion of three appetizers and a glass of wine for $28 until Aug. 31.
Guests can sample and share the 14 small plates of Executive Chef Chip Flanagan’s appetizer menu, including dishes such as crab meat ravigote Napoleon, baked Manchego and a duck confit and mushroom tart.

Muriel’s Jackson Square will be offering a special dinner menu dedicated to the Louisiana Creole tomato during the month of June.
The four-course meal includes wood-grilled Gulf shrimp, Creole tomato and crab salad, Louisiana soft-shell crab or pan-roasted pork tenderloin, and Creole tomato tarte tatin with caramel ice cream. Cost is $45 per person.

Summer cooking demos
Café NOMA by Ralph Brennan, in the New Orleans Museum of Art at City Park, will be holding “Art You Can Eat” summer cooking demonstrations from Friday through Aug. 2.
The classes will celebrate international fare in honor of the museum’s exhibition “Inventing the Modern World: Decorative Arts at the World’s Fairs.”
The classes, held at 6 p.m. each Friday, will feature chefs from Café NOMA, Ralph’s on the Park, Red Fish Grill, café b, Heritage Grill and Ralph Brennan Catering and Events. They will be joined by special guests in demonstrating culinary favorites from around the world from Japanese sweets to Irish dishes.
The classes are free and on a first-come, first-served basis.

Sucré confections in BR
Sucré Sweet Boutique and Confection Studio now has its confections at six locations in Baton Rouge — Calandro’s Supermarket, Calvin’s Bocage Mark, Alexander’s Highland Market, The Fresh Market, Whole Foods and Louisiana Art & Science Museum.
The treats are handmade in small batches in Sucré’s New Orleans confection studio. The sweets boutique was founded by pastry chef Tariq Hanna and chef-restaurateur Joel Dondis in 2007.
Free beer for Dad
On June 16, Father’s Day, all dads who dine at Semolina, 4436 Veterans Blvd., Metairie, will receive a free four-pack of Zea Handcraft beer with the purchase of two entrées while supplies last.
The four-pack includes one of each style of the signature brews from Zea Rotisserie & Grill, the sister restaurant to Semolina.
Tales of the Cocktail
A New Orleans bar has been nominated in the Best American Cocktail Bar category for the Tales of the Cocktail’s seventh annual Spirited Awards.
Cure is one of the four nominees in the category. Others are Anvil, of Houston; Clover Club, Brooklyn, N.Y.; and The Hawthorne, Boston.
The awards will be announced at the Spirited Awards on July 20 at the Hyatt Regency New Orleans. It is part of the 11th anniversary Tales of the cocktail taking place in New Orleans on July 17-21.
