Products discussed at wine dinner
Redemption chef Greg Picolo will showcase VOM FASS products and their use at the New Orleans restaurant’s five-course wine dinner at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Picolo, chef at Bistro at Maison de Ville for 18 years before joining Redemption, will begin the dinner with vichyssoise with jumbo lump crab and avocado.
Other courses include flash-fried Louisiana oysters, sautéed Gulf fish served with Louisiana crawfish and shiitake “fried rice” orzo, grilled pork porterhouse and toasted almond and green apple tartin.
Cindy Johnson, of Select Wines, will present the wines and Christine Herman and Denise Dussom, owners of VOM FASS New Orleans, will talk about their shop’s vinegars, oils and spirits.

Martin hosts scotch, Champagne events
Martin Wine Cellar, 714 Elmeer Ave., Metairie, will hold its second summer scotch seminar at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
Ryan Kohl, of Impex Beverages, will host the scotch tasting featuring unique and very small-production scotches.
Cost is $30 per person and will include hors d’oeuvres from the Martin Metairie Deli Bistro.
At 6:30 p.m. June 27, the Metairie location will host a reception-style tasting, “Stroll Through Italy,” that will showcase a dozen Italian red and white wines. The wines will be complemented by Italian cheeses and charcuterie. Cost is $26 per person.

Martin Wine Cellar’s location at 3500 Magazine St., New Orleans, will host a Champagne cocktail tasting at 6:30 p.m. June 29. Cost is $20 per person.

More than 100 fine wines from around the world will be offered for tasting.

BR General hosts farmers market
Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Bluebonnet is holding a monthly farmers market from 7 a.m. to noon on the last Wednesday of each month.
The market will be held in the parking lot next to Picardy Plaza, spokeswoman Jada Bruce said.
Local farmers will offer a variety of fresh produce and eggs.
