The Red Stick Farmers Market celebrates Strawberry Jam this Saturday. Shoppers will be able to find flats of fresh strawberries, strawberry jam and preserves and strawberry wine, along with root vegetables, leafy greens and locally sourced pork, sausage, poultry and seafood.

Elton Hyndman, chef/owner of Nino’s Italian restaurant in Baton Rouge, will use berries from the market in the 10 a.m. cooking demonstration in the North Street seating area of the Main Street Market.

The Thursday Market is open from 8 a.m. to noon at Pennington Biomedical Research Center, 6400 Perkins Road. Shoppers should enter off Kenilworth Boulevard, at Irene Drive.

Louisiana Purchase, credit and debit cards are accepted at both locations of the Red Stick Farmers Market.

The Covington Market is open from 8 a.m. to noon each Saturday on the side lawn of City Hall, 609 N. Columbia St., and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each Wednesday at the Covington Trailhead, 419 N. New Hampshire.

Music will be provided by Rose Anne Bivens beginning at 9:30 a.m. In the cooking demonstration, Linda Franzo, owner of The Passionate Plater, will feature tomatoes and herbs. Olive trees will be available for sale.

Crescent City Farmers Market

The Crescent City Farmers Market hosts three markets.

On Tuesday, the market is in Uptown, 200 Broadway Street, New Orleans, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Thursdays find the market in Mid-City, 3700 Orleans Ave., New Orleans, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The market comes downtown on Saturdays, 700 Magazine St., New Orleans, from 8 a.m. until noon.

PARKING: On Saturdays, free parking is available in the Galvez Garage, which also serves as the Red Stick Farmers Market rain location.

WHERE: In the Galvez Garage, also between Main and North streets Baton Rouge with an entrance on Fifth Street.

MIDWEEK MARKET
