Sample sweets at Ascension Library
The Ascension Parish Library in Dutchtown, 13278 La. 73, Geismar, will host the Louisiana Culinary Institute’s dessert workshop at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Chef Christina Nicosia and LCI students will demonstrate and offer samples of desserts. Other refreshments will be provided.

Christmas auction
to benefit charities
Galatoire’s, 209 Bourbon St., New Orleans, will host a charity Christmas auction at 5:30 p.m. Monday.
The event will benefit the Galatoire Foundation, Operation Homefront, Hermann-Grima + Gallier Historic Houses and the Youth Empowerment Project. Chef Michael Sichel will provide cocktails and hors d’oeuvres.

Enjoy carols, dinner at plantation house
Madewood Plantation House, 4250 La. 308, Napoleonville, will host a Bayou Christmas Celebration from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Dec. 8.
The event will start with wassail in the Old Kitchen and will feature the choir of St. Philomena singing carols. Dinner will be served in the ballroom and library, featuring a buffet-style dinner with turkey and trimmings.
Seats are $59 per person plus 9 percent sales tax. Groups of 20 or more qualify for a 20 percent discount.
