Good Tastes series set to benefit WYES
WYES New Orleans presents a series of wine, beer and coffee dinners that run from September to December.
The Season of Good Tastes is sponsored by Community Coffee and Thompson Packers’ Meats, and benefits the public broadcasting station. Participating venues include Latil’s Landing at Houmas House in Darrow, The Irish House, Andrea’s, Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots in Galvez, Galatoire’s, Galvez Restaurant, Heritage Grill, Gautreau’s, Café Opera, Restaurant IPO in Baton Rouge, del Porto Ristorante in Covington, Nuvolari’s Ristorante in Mandeville, 5Fifty5, Redemption and Vianne’s Tea House in Mandeville.
Reservations for all meals can be made by calling (504) 840-4886. The following information is required: name, phone numbers, restaurants and number in party. Reservations are not confirmed until you hear back from WYES.
Prepayment is required, and the price depends on the venue selected. Prices range from $65 to $100 per person, tax and gratuity inclusive.
Londoner to present High Tea on Sept. 23
The Londoner, 4215 S. Sherwood Forest Blvd., will host its first High Tea at 3 p.m. Sept. 23.
The tea will include a pot of tea, assorted miniquiches, a selection of finger sandwiches, pastries, chocolate-dipped strawberries and fresh-baked scones served with cream and preserves. Tickets are $29.95 per person. Call (225) 292-9291 or email audrey@londonerbr.com.
‘Accidental Chef’ set to lead cooking class
Fresina’s, 3458-B Drusilla Lane, will host a cooking class 10:30 a.m. Thursday or Friday.
The class, “The Sicilian/Cajun Accidental Chef,” is lead by Janice “Boo” Macomber from Lafayette’s The Accidental Chef Cooking School and The New Orleans Cooking Experience. The menu features New Orleans barbecued shrimp with hot crusty bread; chicken and sausage gumbo; Italian jambalaya; eggplant and artichoke casserole; and bananas Foster.
