The Red Stick Farmers Market is accepting entries for the second annual summer canning competition.
Home cooks are invited to enter their favorite preserved fruits, vegetables, jams, jellies, pickles, sauces, spreads and soups. Entries will be judged on appearance, taste and use of local ingredients.
Entries can be submitted at the Market Hospitality Booth at the Thursday and Saturday markets from 8 a.m. until noon. The Thursday market is at Pennington Biomedical Research Center, 6400 Perkins Road; and the Saturday market is downtown. Awards will be announced 9 a.m. Aug. 18 at the Main Street Market.
