Technically, summer’s almost over. But we’re lucky enough here in south Louisiana that we still have plenty of warm weather yet to come.

And warm weather means picnics, especially over the upcoming Labor Day weekend. It’s also National Sandwich Month, if you need another reason to celebrate eating al fresco.

Pack up plenty of shatter-resistant place settings, a tablecloth or blanket you don’t mind getting a little grungy and plenty of outdoor games and toys for a low-cost, low-fuss full day of family fun.

Don’t forget the drinks, either; as the mercury rises, so will thirst. Keep hydrated with lots of water alternated with flavorful, refreshing tea punches.
