Fresina’s schedules
class on Sicilian fare

Fresina Pasta Co. & Italian Specialties on Friday will host a cooking class, “Under the Sicilian Sun,” taught by Jay Ducote, of Bite and Booze.

The class begins at 10:30 a.m. and costs $75 per person. The menu will include Italian Sausage Arancini Over Creamy Polenta With Pickled Fennel; Veal Meatballs with Fresina’s handmade spaghetti and marinara sauce; and Homemade Lemon and Ricotta Cake with Limoncello digestif.

Master distiller visits Churchill’s today

Truman Cox, master distiller at A. Smith Bowman Distillers, will be at Churchill’s, 7949 Jefferson Highway, at 6 p.m. today for a sampling of Bowman Brothers Small Batch and Single Barrel Virginia Straight Bourbon Whiskey.

Truman will answer questions, sign bottles and share stories with visitors at the free event.

A. Smith Bowman is a small privately owned microdistillery which produces hand-crafted spirits. It focuses on producing premium spirits honoring the legacy of Virginia’s first settlers.
