Wine tasting planned
today at Churchill’s
Churchill’s, 7949 Jefferson Highway, will host a Clos Du Bois wine tasting starting at 6 p.m. Thursday.
The free tasting will feature Russian River Valley Reserve Chardonnay, Alexander Valley Reserve Merlot, Alexander Valley Reserve Cabernet, Calcaire Russian River Valley Chardonnay and Marlstone Red Bordeaux Blend. Winemaker Sean Mackenzie will also be there. Live music will follow.

Several events slated for BR Whole Foods
Whole Foods Baton Rouge, 7529 Corporate Blvd., will host a variety of classes and events in coming weeks.
They will include Cherry Fest! from noon to 5 p.m. Friday to Sunday, with live demonstrations and samples featuring cherries.
The Whole Foods Market Wine Club will meet from 8 to 9 p.m. Saturday. The store’s wine specialist will feature several wines and artisan cheeses and will offer suggestions for other pairings. Space is limited and cost is $10 per person.
The store will celebrate its seventh birthday noon to 3 p.m. July 21 with cake, games, prizes, kids’ activities and more. Also on July 21, the Whole Foods Market Beer Club will meet from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. Cost is $10 per person and space is limited.
From 10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m., the Heath Starts Here Tour will visit the store. Experts will give a 45-minute tour and teach participants tips to get started on a healthy eating plan. Tour is free but limited to 15. Call (225) 218-0452 for reservations.
Renaissance to host
beer-tasting event
Tallulah Crafted Food and Wine Bar will host a Tin Roof Brewing Co. beer tasting from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the restaurant in the Renaissance Baton Rouge, 7000 Bluebonnet Blvd.
Tin Roof, a Baton Rouge brewery, will offer samples of its brews for tasting as part of the restaurant’s Manly Monday series. Other restaurant specials will also be available.

Martin Wine Cellar wine tasting slated
Martin Wine Cellar will host its third annual Tour de Vin wine tasting at Juban’s Restaurant from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday. More than 100 fine wines will be available.
Culinary creations prepared by Juban’s to complement the wines will include shucked oysters with mango salsa, smoked chicken salad with creamy honey lavender vinaigrette, strawberry barbecue rotisserie pork, rosemary and goat cheese torte with a fig preserve, roasted summer vegetable terrine with saffron aïoli, ministuffed fingerling potatoes with bacon and chives, duck rillettes with accoutrements and crostini, chilled melon soup with mint crème fraïche, vegetable crudité with horseradish and yogurt ranch, and a shrimp remoulade.
Tickets are $60 and include a $10 Martin Wine Cellar gift card. Tickets are available at all Martin Wine Cellar locations.
Gulf Brew 2012 set July 21 in Lafayette
The Acadiana Center for the Arts will host Gulf Brew 2012 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. July 21 at Parc International in Lafayette.
Gulf Brew will showcase more than 100 specialty and home-brews, a brewer’s tent, gaming area, bands, DJ and more. LA 31 will release Très Passionné, a passion-fruit wheat beer racked into a unique secondary tank.
Tickets are $25, with the first 200 sold discounted to $20. Designated driver (nontasting) tickets are $15. VIP tickets are $75. No one under 21 will be allowed on the festival premises.

Fiesta to benefit
Capital Area CASA
The CASA Fiesta, a fundraiser to benefit the Capital Area CASA Association, will be from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. July 22 at the Mall of Louisiana.
Food will be provided by Izzo’s Illegal Burrito, Mr. Taco, Ninfa’s Mexican Restaurant, Serrano’s Salasa Co., Zippy’s and Zoe’s Kitchen. Beverages will come from Coca-Cola, Duvic’s, Mockler Beverage and River Road Coffees. Dessert will be provided by Chick-Fil-A at the Mall of Louisiana, Kleinpeter Farms Dairy and Melanie McRoberts. Guests will be able to bid on items from auction donors Lee Michaels; Layne Photography; and Beau Rivage Resort & Casino in Biloxi, Miss.
