Green Tea Ice Cream
Makes about 12 servings. Recipe is by Beth Colvin. Use your favorite green tea to personalize this treat. A mint green tea is particularly refreshing.
1 cup milk
3 bags of green tea
1 cup sugar
Pinch salt
2 cups heavy cream
1. Whisk together milk, sugar and salt in a medium saucepan until sugar is dissolved. Stir in heavy cream and tea bags, then heat over medium heat until it simmers, stirring frequently. Remove from heat, cover and allow to steep 10 to 15 minutes. Chill overnight in the refrigerator.
2. Prepare your ice cream maker according to manufacturer instructions. Add the cream mixture and freeze according to manufacturer’s directions.
3. Remove ice cream from maker into an airtight container. Close the container and freeze for at least 4 hours to allow flavors to ripen.
