Whole Wheat Bread

Makes one loaf. Recipe is from Larmara Hollier, SU AgCenter family and consumer science agent.

1 (0.25-oz.) package yeast

1/2 cup warm water

1/2 cup brown sugar

1 tbl. salt

1/4 cup melted butter

1 cup milk, scalded

1 cup cool water

6 cups whole-wheat flour

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Soak yeast in warm water.

2. Combine sugar, salt and butter. Pour hot milk over and stir until the butter melts. Add the yeast and cool water.

3. Work in the flour. If the dough is still sticky, use a little more flour. Bake 50 to 60 minutes.
