Snazz up sausages with colorful veggies
Sometimes appetizers require a little imagination — nothing difficult, just different.
Take a longtime favorite: cocktail sausages. It’s a great addition to a Mardi Gras office party or home gathering.
Here’s one that’s also colorful. The easy, yet popular, toothpick favorites can be blended with thinly cut carrot sticks, strips of bell peppers, etc., to make a more eye-catching and tasty snack.
Different sauces can change the overall flavor.
While this one calls for chipotle-flavored barbecue sauce, there are lots of different sauces, such as sweet and sour, that can work equally as well.
Since this dish will only need to cook a couple of hours, the ‘keep warm’ setting can be utilized after cooking is complete, if you have a slow cooker that has that setting. If not, keep on Low and stir often during party time.
It’s important to note that the carrots will not be fully cooked. They should be firm, more on the crisp side. The same can be said for the bell peppers.
All in all, it’s a great recipe for a last-minute party.
