The unique mission trip is a challenging adventure for teams of young adults ages 21-35 to abandon worldly possessions and a traditional lifestyle in exchange for an understanding that it’s not about them but the kingdom. While living out of their backpacks, racers experience a variety of adventures such as visiting ancient ruins or hiking up volcanoes. They trade in marketplaces; teach English and practical skills; befriend people caught in modern-day slavery; partner with local ministries; and strengthen local church bodies around the world. Waller left in September on her mission trip, and will serve as a missionary to the Philippines, Malaysia, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malawi, Mozambique, Swaziland, Ukraine, Romania, Nepal and India. Waller, 29, is combining her love for mission work with her professional work as a second-grade teacher at Audubon Elementary. She will encourage and communicate what she is experiencing through her blog and will Skype at least once a month with the school. Students will research each country she will be visiting to discover important information and places about each country. Waller’s plan is to try to visit at least one of the places they learn about and send back pictures and facts to share. This program will be called “Where in the World is Ms. Waller?” Additionally, several classes have discussed identifying places in other countries where they can share educational resources. Waller hopes to be able to help them identify specific opportunities. Waller is the daughter of Ken and Nancy Waller. She is the granddaughter of Virginia Waller Warren and the late Robert Waller, and Leman Warren, of Manchester, Ga., and the late Buck and Lillie Seay. She is a graduate of Parkview Baptist and LSU and is a Zeta Tau Alpha alumni. Follow and support Waller’s journey at kaseywaller.theworldrace.org. Waller is raising all of the funds required to make this trip. Financial support is welcome.
