Open casting call set for ‘Midnight Special’

Sarah Dowling Casting will hold an open casting call Sunday for boys ages 6-10 to be considered for leading roles in the upcoming Hollywood family film, “Midnight Special.”

For story reasons, only white youths are being cast at this time.

The auditions will run 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at Crowne Plaza, 4728 Constitution Ave.

“Midnight Special” is written and directed by Jeff Nichols (“Mud,” “Take Shelter”).

Filmmakers are specifically looking for children who are creative and interesting, perhaps with a particular wisdom, intelligence or ‘old soul’ quality, a news release said. Boys who are in gifted and talent programs are encouraged to apply. All looks and body types are encouraged, and the company is especially looking for a boy with large or unique eyes.

The casting call will consist of a brief talk with a member of the casting team and possibly an interview on camera. All participants should bring a non-returnable photo. Interested parties may email or call (512) 373-3269 for more information. No appointment is necessary.
