Students, seniors to share  The Nutcracker Suite stage

The New Orleans Recreation Development Commission/New Orleans Ballet Association Center for Dance will present The Nutcracker Suite at 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, at Dixon Hall on the Tulane University campus in New Orleans.

The production features participants of the NORDC/NOBA Center For Dance’s programs for youth and senior citizens, along with students of NOBA’s free, after school partnership programs with Wilson Charter School of Orleans Parish and St. Jerome Church of Jefferson Parish.

The Center For Dance, a cultural community partnership between the New Orleans Recreation Development Commission and the New Orleans Ballet Association, offers year-round, free dance programming dancers from age 6 to age 80 and older.

The Nutcracker Suite brings together more than 200 students and 20 senior citizens throughout the greater New Orleans metropolitan area for the holiday classic. Each center is assigned a part, such as angels, mice, and soldiers, and, during the fall, students learn choreography from their instructors at each of the centers where they study.

Tickets are $5. For tickets, call (504) 522-0996 or visit 935 Gravier St., Suite 800, New Orleans, to pick them up in person. Tickets also will be available at the door. For more information, visit http://www.nobadance.com.
