Troupe will stage Amadeus, seeks cast

Auditions for Ascension Community Theatre’s production of the musical Amadeus will be 3 p.m.-5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, and 5 p.m.-8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, at the Pasqua Theatre, 823 Felicity St., Gonzales.

The production is set to run March 7-10 and 14-17, 2013, and will be directed by Lorna Culmone Bourgeois. There are speaking roles for seven men and one woman. Servants and townspeople can be either gender and will have limited lines. Only mature actors are encouraged to attend; no children or persons under 16 should audition for this show. No monologues or other prepared speeches are needed. Come dressed in comfortable clothing as the “venticelli,” chorus will be required to learn and perform stylized movement. Surreal Salon 5

Beginning Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, BREC’s Baton Rouge Gallery, 1515 Dalrymple Drive, will present Surreal Salon 5, the national juried exhibition of pop-surrealist and lowbrow art, engaging audiences with the work of 43 emerging artists from 18 different states.

The exhibition is free and open to the public from noon to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays. Grease tickets
