LSU museum has ‘free day’; next Art Market is July 7
The next Baton Rouge Arts Market is set for 8 a.m.-noon Saturday, July 7, at 5th and Main streets. The market features children’s activities at its Kids Booth from 9 a.m. to noon. It runs in conjunction with the weekly Red Stick Farmers Market and the Main Street Market. The markets will be moved to the Galvez Parking Garage, 500 Main St., during inclement weather. Several events have been scheduled in July at the LSU Museum of Art in the Shaw Center for the Arts, 100 Lafayette St.:

Dance classes slated
Registration is open for Cangelosi Dance Project’s July intensive dance classes for students age 10 and older at its studio, 3749 Perkins Road. The sessions are as follows:
- 9 a.m.-noon Monday through Friday, July 16-20, Classical Ballet and Contemporary Dance, ages 10-13. The fee is $120 per person.
- 12:30-2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, July 16-20, Classical Ballet and Pointe Variation, age 14 and older. The fee is $100 per person.
Instructors will be Kris Cangelosi, Renee Chatelain and Leea Reese.

In West Baton Rouge
The exhibit Art Glass by Jean-Louis Deal will open Saturday, July 7, at the West Baton Rouge Museum, 845 N. Jefferson Ave., Port Allen. The show will run through Sept. 16 and features work by Deal, a native of New Orleans who operates the Normandy Glasshouse on the Northshore of Lake Ponchartrain. At the Enchanted Mansion
The Enchanted Mansion, A Doll Museum, 190 Lee Drive, will open its Louisiana Bicentennial exhibit on Thursday, July 12.
Beginning with the Louisiana Purchase, dolls representing Napoleon, Josephine, and President Thomas Jefferson tell the story leading up to statehood.
Also on exhibit are dolls in ethnic costumes illustrating Louisiana’s mix of peoples, a Cajun cabin dollhouse, a cotton plantation wedding, and Louisiana folk dolls. Also, registration is open for the second session of Camp Dolly for ages 6-12, which runs 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, July 16-20.

C.B. “Bruce” Hume will be the guest speaker and demo artist at 7 p.m. Monday, July 2, at the Denham Springs Fine Art Association’s meeting in the Municipal Building, 941 Government St., Denham Springs. The Iberville Chapter of Louisiana Art & Artists’ Guild has named winners of its 2012 Summer Art Show judged by Sandra Keller, at the Iberville Chapter Art Gallery:
