Ballet workshop
Registration continues for Baton Rouge Ballet Theatre’s summer dance intensive workshop under the direction of celebrated guest instructor John Magnus, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday through Friday, June 25-29, at the Dancers’ Workshop, 10745 Linkwood Court. Magnus taught at New York’s Joffrey School of Ballet for more than 20 years. Dancers’ Workshop faculty member and Runnels School dance teacher Mary Camille Maddox will instruct acro dance classes, Texas Ballet Theater company trainee and former ballet theater dancer Meredith Broussard will teach gyrokinesis and ballet theater principal dancer and LSU Golden Girl Natalie Knight will instruct jazz classes. Open auditions for the third annual 40s-themed talent competition will be 10 a.m.-noon Saturday, June 30, in the National World War II Museum’s Stage Door Canteen, 945 Magazine St., New Orleans. Contestants are asked to prepare a song that was written, recorded or is in the style of the 1940s, will need to sing a cappella and must be age 17 or older to participate.
