Museum sets programs  in conjunction with exhibit

The West Baton Rouge Museum, 845 N. Jefferson Ave., has scheduled three programs coinciding with its exhibit, The Hunt for Treasure!:

  • 6:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 13, Movie Night: Finding Treasures at the West Baton Rouge Museum. This will be an evening of adventure, beginning with a localized treasure hunt, followed by the 2004 feature film National Treasure.
  • 10:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, Family Workshop: Geocaching. This workshop will explain the hobby of geocaching. Participants will learn how to search for hidden containers located throughout the nation, including locations in East and West Baton Rouge parishes using GPS devices and smartphones. Admission is free.
  • 10:30 a.m.-noon Wednesday, Aug. 28, Caring for Your Family’s Treasures: A Workshop. Local experts including curator Lauren Davis, Iberville Museum Director Elizabeth Brantley and Doug Harrison of the Louisiana State Archives will offer practical advice on the care and maintenance of family treasures. Admission is free.
