Summer Sounds concerts return to St. James Church

The Summer Sounds at St. James Concert Series is returning for its fourth season. The concerts will take place at 7 p.m. Wednesdays in July at St. James Episcopal Church, 205 N. Fourth St.

Single ticket admission is $10. College students with a valid ID will be admitted free. Tickets packages are also available.

A reception with the performers will follow each concert. Tickets may be purchased at http://www.stjamesbr.org. Reservations and more information are available at the church’s website and by calling the office at (225) 387-5141.

The series opens July 3 with the National WWII Museum’s Victory Belles, a vocal trio that sings World War II-era classics.

The Hot Club of New Orleans performs July 10. Featuring guitar, violin, clarinet and bass, the group performs swing-era jazz with a modern touch.

Zydeco band Donna Angelle and the Zydeco Posse appears July 17.

Baritone Stephen Rushing returns to St. James July 24 for a performance of music by Henry Purcell, G.F. Handel, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Keith Bissell, Donald Swann and Cole Porter.

Trombonist Chris Belleau performs blues, Tex-Mex and Cajun music for the concluding concert on July 31.
