SATURDAY, SEPT. 22

  • SALLY RIDE SCIENCE FESTIVAL: 11 a.m.-4 p.m., Patrick F. Taylor Hall, Nicholson Drive Ext., LSU. Solar System Ambassador Kathy Beauford, appointed by NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, will present a show, “Are We Alone?” on the NASA Mars Science Laboratory rover “Curiosity,” which recently landed on Mars in the Gale Crater. Astronaut Sandy Magnus also will appear. Sponsored by the Civil Air Patrol.
  • BATON ROUGE WORLD PEACE DAY: 3-7 p.m., Beauvior Park, 2834 Greenwood Drive (under the Perkins Road overpass).   • RURAL LIFE HARVEST DAYS: 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m., LSU Rural Life Museum, 4560 Essen Lane at I-10. Regular admission charged. Educational event interpreting life in 19th century rural Louisiana, with living history demonstrations by artisans focusing on agricultural and domestic activities common on plantations and farms at harvest time. Children will enjoy numerous hands-on activities and old-fashioned games. Lunch will be offered for sale. Also, hear the roar of cannons and crackle of muskets as the Battle of Baton Rouge will be re-enacted on the museum grounds. Regular admission applies. (225) 765-2437.
