Apr 8, 2014 11:47 Items, information sought for Old South BR Project Items, information sought for Old South BR Project Advocate news service April 08, 2014 Comments Photos and information focusing on the legacy and history of Old South Baton Rouge are being sought for a new project at the Leo S. Butler Community Center. The project, “The Old South Baton Rouge Wall of Fame, Past and Present,” will focus on pioneers in the community from doctors and attorneys, to entertainers and musicians, to community activists and politicians. “The concept of ‘Old South Baton Rouge’ will be to revisit and revitalize the history of the community so that our children and youth can appreciate what the community provided and the accommodations that were available at the time,” according to a news release. “Old South Baton Rouge has significant values in the Baton Rouge community and for many years provided and preserved a wealth of knowledge for the constituents and residents in this city.” The vision of this project, according to the release, is to coordinate and organize the history of Old South Baton Rouge and showcase it on several walls at the community center.
