Southern plans concert, jazz brunch Southern plans concert, jazz brunch Magazine staff May 09, 2013 Comments The Southern University Chancellor’s Concert is set for 5 p.m. Sunday, April 21, in the F.G. Clark Activity Center. The concert will feature the Southern University Wind Ensemble under the direction of Lawrence Jackson, the university’s director of bands. Admission is free. Also, the university’s Center for International Affairs and University Outreach will host its annual International Jazz Brunch and Silent Auction from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 20, in the Cotillion Ballroom in the Student Union on campus. Proceeds from the event will provide scholarships and funds for students seeking to study abroad. Items from countries such as Brazil, Turkey, China, Senegal and Belize will be auctioned. Guests also can donate items from countries they’ve visited for the auction. All items donated or purchased are tax deductible. The Herman Jackson Jazz Ensemble will provide entertainment.
