3 BR Arts Markets will precede holiday; Stone show at LSU

Three Baton Rouge Arts Markets are set for 8 a.m.-noon Saturdays, Dec. 1, 8 and 15, at 5th and Main streets. The markets feature work by more than 70 Louisiana artists, along with arts activities in the Arts Market Kids Booth from 9 a.m. to noon. The market will move to the Galvez parking garage, 500 Main St., in inclement weather. In addition to the Saturday Arts Markets, some Arts Market artists will be participate in the Friday, Nov. 30, Downtown Festival of Lights on the North Boulevard Town Square. Botanical exhibit set

The exhibit, Margaret Stone’s Flora of Louisiana, will open Monday, Dec. 3, at Hill Memorial Library on the LSU campus. The show runs through Feb. 16, 2013, and admission is free. Hours are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, and 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturdays. When classes are in session, the library is open until 8 p.m. Tuesdays.

Christmas Carol tickets

Constantinides concert

The LSU School of Music will present a faculty recital of music by Boyd Professor Dinos Constantinides at the School of Music Recital Hall, Dalrymple Drive on campus, at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27. This will be a preview of Constantinides’ Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall-NY Concert under the auspices of Distinguished Concerts International-New York set for 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, and will feature Michael Gurt, LSU piano professor; Griffin Campbell, LSU professor of saxophone; Ronaldo Cadeu, professor of guitar at Minas Gerais State University-Brazil and LSU alumnus; and Lori Bade, professor of voice at LSU. Additional artists include Espen Lilleslåtten, former concertmaster of the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra in Norway and associate professor of violin at LSU, and Renata Arado, former principal second violin of Norway’s Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra and present faculty of the Aspen Music Festival and School.
