Valdes will play at the Manship; trio plans chapel concert

Tickets are on sale for two performances by Grammy Award winner Chucho Valdes and the Afro-Cuban Messengers at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, at the Manship Theatre in the Shaw Center for the Arts, 100 Lafayette St.

The concerts are part of the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge’s River City Jazz Masters Series. Tickets are $25 and $45.

BossaRica concert set

BossaRica, a trio featuring Raúl Gómez on violin, Marcelo Vieira on cello and Ronaldo Cadeu on guitar, will perform at 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18, in the Dunham Chapel at First Presbyterian Church, 763 North Blvd. Admission is free, but an offering will be taken for Caring to Love, a local ministry associated with First Presbyterian. The traveling exhibit Becoming Louisiana: Path to Statehood, commemorating 200 years of Louisiana statehood, will open on Saturday, Nov. 24, at The Walker Museum and Community Art Gallery, 29350 Walker South Road, Walker. Schexnayder expands brand

Artist Paul Schexnaydre’s “Happy Cajun” artwork is now featured on kitchenware, in artwork and on lifestyle products and is now in 16 stores throughout Louisiana. The artwork features a stick figure couple dancing on an alligator. Its motto is, “Living such a happy life that you could dance on a gator is a direct visual of our uniquely celebrated life down here.” The artwork also features other designs.
